This multi-session on-demand training focuses on Person-Centered Planning tools and strategies that support student-led IEPs. Attendees explore practical ways to center student voice, build self-advocacy skills, and collaborate with educators and teams so IEPs become meaningful, student-driven conversations rather than compliance-focused meetings.

Learning Objectives:

  • Explain the core principles of Person-Centered Planning and how they support student-led IEP development.
  • Apply person-centered tools to help students identify and communicate their strengths, needs, preferences, and goals.
  • Support student voice and shared decision-making to strengthen advocacy, learning, growth, opportunity, and interdependence in school and beyond.

Attendee Requirements:

No prior experience with Person-Centered Planning is required. Attendees should work with or support students through the IEP process.

Learners will have 6 months from the order date to complete the Training mini-series.

The Training mini-series consists of self-paced online training content. Students can expect to spend 6-10 hours to complete the series coursework for the following. 

  • Module 1: Introduction to PCP Tools and How they Can be Used in the IEP Process
  • Module 2: Gathering a Student's History
  • Module 3: Who is Part of the IEP?
  • Module 4: Strengths, Gifts and Capacities
  • Module 5: What Works/ What Doesn't Work
  • Module 6: Dreams and Possible Future
  • Module 7: Ideas & Resources
  • Module 8: Graphics, Graphics, Graphics
  • Module 9: Wrapping Up & What's Next

Logistics: 

  • If you are registering on behalf of someone else, please use the student's name and email address and not your own, so the correct person is added to the series.

Refund policy: Refunds will be issued for cancellations made up to 3 days after your registration date. Cancellations made more than 3 days after the registration date will not receive a refund.
